Slop / Sludge Treatment Plant Operator

Slop / Sludge Treatment Plant Operator in charge a sludge plant with responsibility on for all operations on one shift when foreman is not present (usually at night or on weekends). This includes the pumping stations outside the plant premises. You will determine the seriousness of problems and independently take action to bypass processes and make minor repairs. You will operates and maintain valves, pumps, gates, comminutors and other controls and equipment; collects samples of sewage at prescribed stages in the treatment cycle and makes basic analysis of; temperature, concentration (pH), residual chlorine, settleable solids, dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), determination of suspended solids, total solids, volatile acids, alkalinity, sludge volume index, sludge age, sludge solids, and fecal coliforms. You will also adjust chlorinating and other chemical treating equipment to control physical, chemical and bacteriological characteristics of sewage
